About
I was born in Shanghai, China.
I sucked at mathematics at junior high school, but I managed to attend the high school that was best known for its intense mathematical training – Shanghai High School (SHS). My motivation was that the tennis courts at SHS were simply too beautiful (5 outdoor + 3 indoor standard hardcourts).
I planned to major in economics as an undergraduate, but my college entrance examination scores took me somewhere else. (Life!) I started my first serious academic attempt in philosophy when I was a sophomore. I periodically swore that I would never enter the academia since then, but I nevertheless kept trying to do so.
I love philosophy for the uneasiness that it brings, its tolerance of eccentricity, and encouragement of curiosity. I believe that academic philosophy is a theoretically rigorous and experientially interesting way of living the ordinary life that we all live.
